What is MUHSEN organization?
Muhsen is a nonprofit umbrella organization serving children and adults with any intellectual, mental, or physical disability. Muhsen’s aim is to establish an inclusive and accessible environment for individuals with disabilities and their families. Muhsen will assume an active role to advocate and educate, conduct training, and implement programs and services across North America to improve the experience within mosques, conventions, related classes and events, as well as to engender a positive and welcoming community for persons with disabilities.
How does MCECC work with MUHSEN?
MCECC is happy to collaborate with MUHSEN to bring special needs services to our community. MCECC achieved the Silver level certification from MUHSEN in 2021.
MCECC welcomed MUHSEN because we believed through aiding in bringing communities together and facilitating the approach that all deserve to feel and be welcomed, we are able to service the Ummah at large. In hindsight, the reason that masjid certification matters is it brings compassion to a community, and allows the removal of barriers on the Day of Judgement for us, as the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad mentions, “Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the Hereafter.”
How does that certification work?
MUHSEN Masjid Certification is unique to Muhsen as they are the only organization in North America that certifies masjids by ensuring they meet all needs and criteria for disabilities.A three-tiered checklist lists the various ways that a masjid can be accommodating to special needs individuals and their families.
